My life as a Musician

I was born in 1993 to a musical family based in North Suffolk. My father is a semi professional musician with skills on a variety of instruments and my grandfather was a well known soloist within the Salvation Army. My first memory of music was at the age of 5 where my grandad began to teach me the cornet. Although the instrument wasn't for me I learnt the basics of music.

I began playing the alto saxophone when moving to Worlingham Middle School in 2003. Throughout my time there I performed in a number of the school concerts and this carried on into High School. I became a member of the Sir John Leman High School Windband and North Suffolk Youth Wind Band in 2007 and received an A in GCSE music.

When I began sixth form at Sir John Leman I also became the leader of the school's jazz band and saxophone quartet as well as continuing with the other bands I was involved in. I also became a freelance saxophonist working with a number of bands in the area such as the Super Swing Big Band.

Since 2013 I have been studying both Music and Education at Bath Spa University. I have been involved in many ensembles such as the University choir, Big Bands, Windband, Concert Orchestra and Sounds Descent.
